Infectious Clinical Waste (ICW) Bin Handling: ATS Group's Expertise Serving Waste Treatment Facilities

At waste treatment facilities, transferring containers to incineration furnaces is a critical step: it must combine industrial throughput, operator safety, and regulatory traceability. This is the segment where ATS Group draws on its expertise as an integrator-manufacturer, delivering automated overhead conveyor lines designed, manufactured, and installed end to end.

A line engineered for performance and reliability

The lines developed by ATS Group are built around adaptive self-propelled carriers, capable of handling up to 25 containers per hour. Compatible with several container formats — trunnion-mounted as well as fork-type — these carriers feature an onboard tipping system and draw on automotive-industry reliability standards in their design. Each line can be equipped with a backup motor and a dedicated maintenance zone, ensuring continuity of service even during technical interventions.

Safety and traceability at the core of the process

Beyond transport, every container undergoes a weight check and a radioactivity check, combined with full traceability throughout the line. An integrated washing station, with rinse water recovery, completes the system and meets the hygiene requirements specific to handling Infectious Clinical Waste (ICW).

An integrated service, from design to maintenance

ATS Group manages the entire project value chain: site surveys, mechanical and electrical engineering studies, risk analyses, manufacturing of mechanical equipment and electrical cabinets in-house, workshop pre-assembly, on-site installation and wiring, automation, testing, and commissioning. This in-house expertise, without subcontracting, ensures technical consistency at every stage of the project and allows us to offer, in addition, staff training and a maintenance contract.

References with major players in waste treatment

This expertise is backed by concrete achievements: a line modification at PAPREC in Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône, a complete installation replacement at ALCEA in Nantes, and a loading zone upgrade at NOVERGIE in Mulhouse. Several projects are also under development in France and internationally, confirming the momentum of this business segment for ATS Group.
